University of Cologne Offer

The University of Cologne offers students a variety of internal university activities.

Lecture series

In addition to the lectures that you must attend during your studies, the institutes of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities regularly offer lecture series with changing topics, which are free for all students. For example, Philosophie Kontrovers provides a forum for controversial discussion of topics, while an internationally important personality is invited to Cologne every year as part of the the Albertus Magnus Professorship to discuss current social topics in public lectures and seminars.

You can find out about the current lecture series on the website of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities .

Language

A language tandem is particularly suitable for improving the language skills acquired during the course of study. Exchange students from Scandinavia and Finland regularly contact us in search of tandem partners. We announce these requests to our students via the newsletter .

The International Relations Centre is also helping to find tandem partners. With the peer programme, you have the opportunity to get to know international guest students and to provide them with advice for a semester.

Music

If you like music, you should have a look at the Collegium musicum. The Collegium musicum organizes a variety of concert series with its own ensemble, but also with invited artists. If you are interested, you can join the orchestra or one of the choirs.

Sports

Unisport offers students a wide range of courses. In addition to fitness and health courses, there is also the possibility to practice various martial arts, attend dance classes or try out other sports and activities such as rowing on the Rhine. With the sports ticket (€15 per semester), students can participate in many UniSports events. Students can also attend Hochschulsport courses. Participation in these courses is, with a few exceptions, free of charge.

Radio and theatre

KölnCampus is a radio by students for students. If you would like to gain initial experience with radio, you can complete a radio journalistic training here. Students in their first semester have free admission to the events of the Studio Stage. In addition, it also offers students the opportunity to become involved.
