The network project   j o l n e s  –  Joint Learning in Northern European Studies  (previously E-Master Scandinavian and Finnish Studies) combines the two challenges ‘digitalization’ and ‘internationalization’ within academic teaching and learning.

Through cooperatively taught digital courses, there are more individual design possibilities within academic studies.

  • Spatial and temporal flexibility: easier coordination of job, family and studies
  • Flexibility of content: getting to know the research focus and competences of other departments for Northern European Studies
  • Networking: studying online together with students from other German and European departments
  • Training of job-related competences: use of web conferencing tools, digital project work and cooperation
  • Internationalisation at home: international study experiences and virtual mobility, especially for students who for various reasons cannot go abroad

For departments:

  • resource-saving enhancement of the range of courses
  • Increasing the proportion of digital teaching and learning
  • efficient networking of German and international departments for quality assurance and optimisation of the teaching programme

Structural transfer to other so called ‘rare subjects‘ is possible (c.f. the project’s manual from 2016).
